October 2012 SWMI Housing Market Continues Positive Trend

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? "The housing market continues to do well with six continuous months of 250 or more houses sold each month. Since May sales have ranged from 250 to 287 with 273 houses sold in October. The October number of houses sold was up 37 percent over October 2011when only 199 houses were sold. Every month this year the number of houses sold has substantially beat 2011 monthly numbers with the exception of June and August when the numbers sold varied by just 6 houses. Year-to-date the number of houses sold was up 23 percent," stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.

The Housing Market in Southwestern Michigan ? August 2014

The local housing market in August rebounded nicely from the disappointing July results. However, over time July has routinely taken a step backward during our peak selling season. In August, there was a 13 percent increase in the number of homes sold and a 13 percent increase in the total dollar volume from those sales while the average and median selling prices held steady. July had dropped 7 percent in both number of homes sold and total dollar volume from June this year.

The Housing Market in Southwestern Michigan ? September 2014

This year at the end of the third quarter, fewer homes were sold and those that sold did so at higher prices than at end of the third quarter in 2013. The number of houses sold to date was down 4 percent from last year (2229 vs. 2320). Year-to-date the average selling price was up 6 percent or almost $11,000 above last year ($192,113 vs. $181,256). The median selling price, year-to-date, was up 7 percent; raising the median selling price to $131,000 from $122,000 in 2013 at the end of the third quarter.
