January 2016, Record Setting January SWMI Housing Market

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? ?January was a record setting month in many ways for Southwestern Michigan. When comparing the numbers back to the peak year of 2006, our current market seems to be very robust,? stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.

??In spite of the historically low inventory of homes to sell, the number of houses sold increased 30 percent over January 2015 (187 vs. 144). Looking at sales in the month of January going back to 2006, January 2016 had the second highest number of houses sold. In January 2006, 206 houses were sold,? said Walter.

December 2015, Housing Market Up Double Digits

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? ?The housing market in December certainly saw no freeze in the overall process. The number of houses sold, total dollar volume, and selling prices were up double digits over December 2014. All of 2015 showed a nice increase over 2014 making buyers and sellers happy. If there is a negative, it is the low housing inventory which continued to decline though out 2015,? stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the?Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.

October 2015, SWMI Housing Market Rebounds

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? ?Our housing market has continued a nice rebound with over 300 houses selling per month since June. The month of May missed the trend with only 297 houses sold. October sales, at 347 houses sold, was the highest number of sales than in any other October going back to 2006, the peak year in our market area. This makes the third month in a row housing sales have set this record. October 2015 home sales were up 8 percent over October 2014 and 7 percent over sales in September,? stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the?Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.

November 2015, SWMI Housing Market Selling Prices Up-Sales Surpass all 2014

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? ?The housing market in November held almost even in the number of houses sold last year, but selling prices sizzled. In November 2015, 222 houses were sold compared to 224 in November 2014. The average selling price for the month was up 27 percent and the median selling price was up 18 percent raising the total dollar volume for the month up 26 percent over November 2014,? stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.

September 2015, SWMI Housing Market Sales Up Inventory Dropping

ST. JOSEPH, MI ? ?Just like the record set in August, more homes were sold in September 2015 than in any September going back to 2006. In September, 323 houses were sold compared to 293 in September 2014 for a 10 percent increase year over year. For the year, the number of houses sold was up 11 percent (2481 vs. 2229),? stated Gary Walter, EVP, of the Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS?, Inc.
